Our buildings may age, but our need for healthy air continues to grow. Fortunately, there are many ways architects and planners can improve indoor air quality in existing buildings. New constructions have an additional advantage: centralized ventilation systems can be implemented right from the start.
The Ambientika decentralized ventilation system from Südwind uses compact individual units that are integrated directly into exterior walls through simple wall openings. The principle: a ceramic heat exchanger stores the heat from the exhaust air and transfers it to the incoming fresh air – with an efficiency of up to 93 percent. Some Ambientika models offer a “Free Cooling” mode: during summer months, cooler outdoor air is supplied indoors without heat recovery. The clever part: the units operate in pairs with alternating airflow, preventing negative pressure.
Different Ambientika models suit different living situations. Advanced+ is equipped with sensors and can regulate itself automatically. Wireless+ enables wireless networking between units. The Smart model adds an air quality sensor and weather data integration. For single-room solutions, Solo+ is ideal, while Advanced B+ was developed specifically for damp rooms and includes a dehumidification mode.
In addition to its high energy efficiency, Ambientika impresses with automatic control: CO₂, humidity, and air quality sensors adjust ventilation without user intervention. The system remains quiet – and thanks to wireless or wired networking, up to 15 units can operate synchronously. A real advantage for renovators seeking modern air quality without extensive construction work.
