Ambientika fans can be set up with any router and any mesh system. To get the connection right the first time, it helps to understand one thing: a fan in a network is not a single smart-home device but a team – and a team needs to be able to coordinate.
There is no “supported router list” you need to worry about. Ambientika works with every standard Wi-Fi router and with every mesh/repeater system. Only one setting matters – and we show you exactly where it is.
A smart plug only has to do one thing: connect itself to the Wi-Fi. An Ambientika system works differently. For cross-ventilation the units constantly coordinate with each other: while one fan extracts air to the outside, another brings in fresh air in alternation. This interplay is the reason for the good air quality – and for it the fans need to be able to communicate with each other and with your Wi-Fi at the same time.
That is why the initial setup takes one or two more steps than a smart plug. This is not a drawback of the system, but the very requirement for the units to work together as a network.
Ambientika connects via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. This frequency band has the greater range and passes through walls better – ideal for devices installed firmly in the exterior wall. Many routers and almost all mesh systems broadcast 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz under the same name. Usually a small adjustment is enough for the fan to log on reliably to the 2.4 GHz network.
